The very first thing you need to plan for your trip to Spain is how you’re going to get there and back. Nowadays, almost everyone takes the plane. Flights to Spain – not just to Madrid and Barcelona, but to many of the most popular tourist destinations – are now frequent and, above all, cheap.
Where to Begin
Many people look for a package, including flight, transfers and accommodation. If this is your ideal, then you can probably find just what you want in almost any travel agency (they all sell almost exactly the same products nowadays, at the same prices). You could also look around internet. I just wrote “package holiday spain” in the Google search engine and came up with hundreds of websites selling package holidays here. As with anything you’re going to buy (and not just on internet), make sure you understand exactly what’s being offered, what the price covers (and what it doesn’t), and that the company selling you the holiday is a registered travel agent. If you’re not very confident about booking a package trip to Spain on internet, we recommend visiting the following page, which belongs to one of the most solid and dependable companies around: Thomas Cook.
Many people, however, prefer to organize their own accommodation and so need to find just the flight to Spain. Again, the easiest way is to go to your local travel agent and let them do the work. In this case, however, you’re likely to miss out on the cheapest flights to Spain, which are to be found on internet. As for the package holiday, I went into Google, typed “cheap flights spain” into the search box and came up with hundreds more websites, each of them offering the very cheapest flights from all over the world to Spain!
The same warning applies here as for the package holidays: make sure you understand the conditions relating to the ticket you buy (if it’s cheap, it’s probably non-refundable, non-changeable…) and make sure the company issuing the ticket is a registered travel agent. And again, if you’re not sure about buying flights on internet, we recommend two of the biggest and most reputable companies around: Priceline.com (for our North American visitors) and LastMinute.com (for our European visitors). These two websites are so well known that there can be no doubt about their solidity, honesty or customer service AND they have some of the lowest fares on the internet.
However and wherever you decide to get your plane ticket, perhaps the most important thing to bear in mind is that the earlier you do it, the better price you’re likely to find. So, above all, don’t leave it any longer - start thinking about your flight now!
