Top Holiday Resorts in Lanzarote

from guest

Lanzarote in the Canary Islands is home to three main holiday resorts. Along with the Millionaire’s Marina of Puerto Calero. Which boasts two upmarket hotels and a host of expensive yachts and craft as well as plenty of good quality restaurants.

Each resort has its own history, character, attractions and plus points. With all of them offering high standards of accommodation and boasting an excellent selection of Lanzarote villas and hotels.

So lets have a look at a few of the most popular holiday hotspots renowned for a wide selection of self catering Lanzarote apartments and villas.

Puerto del Carmen

Puerto del Carmen started life as La Ti?osa before becoming Lanzarote?s most popular holiday destination during the 1970?s. Thanks to an abundance of good value holiday apartment complexes… Accommodation choices have evolved along with the resort and visitors can now select from a wide range of hotels and holiday villas too.

The island government has recently spent over €16 million sprucing up Carmen’s image in order to maintain its competiveness against newer destinations around the world. So there’s never been a better time to visit.

Villas In Costa Teguise

Situated just fifteen minutes north of Lanzarote?s international airport at Arrecife Costa Teguise was initially designed as the island’s upmarket resort. And during the 1980?s it proved very successful at attracting moneyed visitors from countries such as Germany, Sweden and Denmark.

However its sheen has faded a little since then. Partly due to the development of Playa Blanca in the south of the island. Which has snatched the slot of number 2 destination away over recent years. However Costa Teguise remains an attractive holiday hot spot – boasting wide avenues and a spacious open plan feel. Whilst the resort is also home to some great beaches, such as the main stretch of sand at Playa Cucharas.

Playa Blanca

Playa Blanca was developed much later than the other resorts during the 1990?s. Quickly establishing itself as the second most popular holiday destination on the island. Thanks to its great beaches and splendid microclimate. A factor that becomes especially salient during the winter months.

There are three main beaches within the resort itself in the form of Playa Dorada, Playa Flamingo and Playa Blanca. Whilst the famously picturesque coves and bays of Papagayo are around a fifteen minute walk away from the town centre.
