Have Fun Learning Spanish In Spain!

Filed under: Vacations Spain - 28 Oct 2010 from Sam Tinkenger

If you wish to live for awhile in Spain, it will be necessary for you to get a fuller grasp of Spanish, especially if you are living outside places like Madrid where many people know your native language. In other regions will probably find that they won’t.

You have many choices for learning Spanish, and your learning style will be a factor, but usually the best choice of all is a combination of formal study, study on your own, and using the language in immersed situations where you really need it.

Neither is very hard to find, but sometimes formal instruction can be very expensive. If you learn best in a school setting or structured environment or with one-on-one instruction, a language school may be the way for you to go.

Most city governments sponsor classes for immigrants, and most of the time they are free. In any case, the local government should be able to find language instruction to help you.

Learn Spanish at Advanced Levels

Once your language skills become a little more advanced, you won’t want to stop studying. A really excellent way to continue to advance is making friends with people whose native language is Spanish. Usually local people are more than happy to have a conversation, so don’t be afraid to initiate one. Talk to people wherever you go, the market, the store, shops, and restaurants. Regular conversation will help you fine tune your skills. You will develop new friends and you will also begin to feel more and more at home in Spain. Your Spanish will improve markedly, and the rush you will feel as your Spanish becomes better and better will be worth all the time you spent studying all those difficult verbs!

When you reach the advanced levels of Spanish, it’s time to subscribe to written and audio materials for non-native speakers. A good choice would be Puerta del Sol, a bimonthly. Through your reading material you will gain more and more understanding of the country’s culture. Reading skills are very valuable for themselves, of course, but the added value is a deeper knowledge.

Language exchange clubs sometimes meet during dinner, a more relaxed environment. They are not just time for study but they help you socialize as well, and participating in these is great because you will increase your number of friends. This informal method for learning to speak Spanish might be the most fun. Rather than having a set curriculum that you will follow, you will talk about whatever you would like!

Another skill you need is to gain more and more social knowledge. If you really want to know Spanish, you will need to take advantage of every situation and opportunity that you have.

Filed under: Vacations Spain - 09 Nov 2009 from Robertson B. Kunz

Spanish is a language that in recent days many people have become interested in. You may want to learn Spanish to better communicate with people in your community or simply because your access to the language is greater than your access to other foreign languages.

The United States in particular has noticed a boom in Spanish speaking immigrant populations which means that the demand for Spanish speaking skills has only risen.

If you are thinking about learning to speak Spanish, maybe you are doing so because you want an advantage in your job or current occupation. Or, perhaps you just want to make better friends with your co-workers or clients.

Whatever the case may be, learning a new language can be a rewarding endeavor. This is not to say that it is an easy one, it can be very difficult to learn a foreign language. However, there are a few tips you can be aware of in order to improve upon the process.

A foreign language, including Spanish, is best studied a little bit every day instead of once a week or once in every great while.

The reason for this is that studying a little bit each day will reduce the time that you need to spend at each study session reviewing the material from before. By doing a little bit each day, you can keep moving along nicely and increasing your knowledge of the language.

By studying each and every day for a little bit, you are able to not only make small improvements and reduce the time needed for review but additionally, you can condition your mind to get used to the new language which is an important process to gaining proficiency.

For whatever reason you may be learning Spanish, I wish you the best of luck and a speedy process in learning it! Remember to study a little bit each day and you should continue to improve. Just keep at it and you will experience the many rewards that foreign language study can bring.

Learning Spanish Phrases - They key to Speaking Conversational Spanish Fast

Filed under: Spain General Information - 16 Feb 2009 from author

Taking the plunge to learn another language like Spanish is a big undertaking but it can be fun and rewarding, especially if the reason you’re learning it is to travel abroad. The methods used by some Spanish courses and programs are not always equal, often times the best methods are not used at all.

When you’re learning a second language there are a couple of ways you can do it.

Memorization is the first method of learning a new language. This process is where you build a large vocabulary of new words in Spanish solely by relating the word in Spanish to a word in English.

This is the method most used in junior high and high schools. The draw back here is that most students build a big vocabulary but rarely learn to piece those words together to make sentences. This does not aid the individual in becoming a good Spanish speaker, nor can they communicate well.

The other way that Spanish is often taught, and most often used in Spanish software or audio courses is by teaching useful Spanish phrases rather then long lists of words.

For example, if you learn how to say “I need to go to”in Spanish you can then create full sentences simply by adding other words and phrases to the end of the single phrase.

So a full example would be, you ask “I need to go to the bathroom” how ever you could replace “the bathroom” with the airport, the grocery store, the bank etc.Using this method it’s easy to make phrases and therefore speak some what fluent Spanish and communicate with native speakers.

One of the best programs of learning using this method is Tell Me More Spanish software.Tell Me More Spanish is one of the top rated learn to speak Spanish programs available for home use, it’s speech recognition helps you perfect your pronunciation of words and helps you learn near perfect conversational skills.

While there are less expensive learn Spanish programs available this one is probably the best available. To read more about the specific features check out this detailed review of Tell Me More Spanish.

If you choose to learn Spanish phrases rather then going the memorization route you’ll find yourself conversational much faster and learning the basics in less time.It just doesn’t make any sense to me why one would bother learning a ton of Spanish words that just aren’t used often in everyday conversation. It makes no good sense or worth while use of time.
