Making The Most Of Fuerteventura In One Of The Island’s Top Hotels

Filed under: Vacations Spain - 18 Dec 2010 from Louie D. Yates

The Ancient Greek poet Homer wrote about an island known as the ‘Insulae Fortunatae’ in the Odyssey, composed in 850BC. That island is today known as Fuerteventura. It is the second largest of the Canary Islands, off the coast of North Africa. As the airport here was only built in the 1960s, it is still relatively new as a popular holiday resort, but there are plenty of fantastic hotels that keep visitors returning.

For people travelling with children the Gran Hotel Atlantis Bahia Real may be just the place for you. The hotel can arrange for babysitters to take care of your children should you want a romantic meal without a screaming child, while during the day a children’s club keeps them occupied with a range of activities. Adults can keep active too by hiring a bicycle, taking a dip in the swimming pool or having a game of tennis.

The Solvasa Geranios Suite and Spa may initially sound more suited as an adult only resort as it is quite quiet and there are two golf courses within walking distance, but there is still a children’s play area. On site there is also a swimming pool, gym, facilities for playing tennis and squash and, as the name of the hotel would suggest, a spa. Luxury villas even have their own pool for those that don’t particularly feel like sharing.

At the Elba Palace Golf you really don’t have far to go if you want to hit a few balls. The hotel itself is typical of Canary Island architecture (and if you’re unsure of what that is exactly then you should definitely check it out), and is decorated elegantly, no more so than in the piano bar. The hotel will happily arrange for you to participate in watersport such as windsurfing at the nearby beach though many people might rather be interested in the hotel’s wine cellar.

Fuerteventura’s economy relies on tourism and as a result the hotels here certainly know how to welcome their guests and make them feel firmly at home. Whether you’re coming for the sun or the wildlife, for golf or the sea, there’s something here for everyone.

So now you’ve decided which of the Canary Islands to visit, but you need to choose from one of the many Fuerteventura hotels so have a look at some of the best ones. The Canaries are definitely a great option if you are looking to find out where is hot in January in Europe

Online Holiday Reviews Can Be Misleading

Filed under: Vacations Spain - 10 Sep 2010 from Ann Margaret McPherson

With the birth of the internet there has been quite a few vacation review web sites that are fantastic for package vacation critiques and other general tips for booking your vacation. These evaluation sites are not as welcome with resort owners for obvious reasons and it is possible to see their point of view if you read some critiques that have unfair comments !

It is significantly more likely that if your holiday has been a nightmare you will be delighted to post a unfavorable comment to warn other holidaymakers and this is ok. But for each unfavorable assessment there may well be quite a few holidaymakers who have had a fantastic time and simply not bothered to post a review.

Now of course if one hotel has 250 bad reviews then we can assume there are some problems here ! Some people will love a hotel and others will hate it ! That’s simply human nature as we all have different taste and standards but you need to keep a balance when reading hotel reviews.

I ignore reviews that complain about a 2 star late deal hotel that had no air conditioning ! Also if you book a late deal allocated on arrival and don’t like the hotel, providing it is clean you don’t have much grounds for complaint unfortunately. This is the chance you take when you get a discounted holiday that saves you a lot of money compared to the brochure price ! Remember in most cases you are booking a real bargain !

Another common complaint is about the entertainment at the hotel as I often read reviews from adults complaining that the hotel had too much kids entertainment yet one look in the brochure reveals that the hotel is a family friendly complex with kids clubs and special entertainment !

Holiday reviews are great but keep it real and remember everyone has a different opinion.

Why You Should Consider Majorca As Your Next Holiday Destinations

Filed under: Vacations Spain - 23 Jun 2010 from Indianna Geopolissea

Majorca is the largest islands of Spain and is one of the hottest and visited tourist destinations in the world. The beautiful island has a projected 15 million visitors a year. The island of Majorca has such a lot to offer. Most tourists spend their vacation in the hot sun, sand and surf. There’s plenty of fun and excitement in Majorca. The island off the coast of Spain has yet more to supply than the blinding beaches when you get there. The popular tourist destination is well-known for both its nightlife and its historic architecture and beauty.

Tourism has been terribly advantageous to island of Majorca, raising its lifestyle well above the rest of the area. The island has been heaven to every tourist. Majorca has more than 300 hotels from economy to super-luxury class in virtually each town. If you’re searching for a luxury spa resort or for a pleasing room as your home, Majorca is just the place to be. There are lots of hotels on the island that will fit your budget and lifestyle . If you wish not to stay in a hotel, Majorca boasts its beautiful beaches where you can spend some time to enjoy and be free. Whether you like Palma Nova and Magaluf’s active party-all-night-long ambiance or Cala San Vicente’s tranquil loveliness, no problems to you as you’ll surely find the resort atmosphere that may make your vacation perfect.

The island of Majorca gives you an indefinite choice of hotel accommodations from singe rooms, all in one economy suite to luxury accommodations that even include spas and entertainment in one place. The towns of Palma Nova, Magaluf, Santa Ponsa and Paguera are all situated in the district of Calvia on the southwest coast. With neon lit clubs and clear delights twenty four seven, the heavily peopled vacationer resort area is lively and busy. The beaches of Majorca never let the tourists down. The tourists enjoy the semi-tropical holidays hours and the night-life that keeps them animated until dawn that they get from Majorca’s beaches and resorts.

From the southwest we are going to the eastern coast of the island where Sa Coma and Porto Cristo terrifically provide a contrast to the glowing, densely packed beaches of the southwest coast. The east coast of Majorca was planned and built purposely as a resort area. To give way and preserve the historic feel of the east coast, the Majorca hotels and resorts have gone to great pains. In result, the stretches of beach and islands between Porto Cristo and Palma are a mixture of golden sand and the more craggy, rocky beaches.

From south to east, the northwestern coast offers a completely different atmosphere than the rest of regions. Majorca, indeed, is keeping with the promise of anything under the sun. Puerta Pollensa, one of the older tourist areas of the island, and the Majorca hotels still have saved the old skool atmosphere of the British resort hotels way back 1920s, a century removed from the real and modern activity of the other tourist spots of Majorca. With its surprising beaches, lively night-life, and from simple to luxurious hotels and resorts, Majorca is certainly one of the most hectic, if not the busiest, resort destinations in the world. Majorca is happy with their tagline that if something isn’t in Majorca, it doesn’t exist in any way. With everything astonishing and glowing, what else could you ask more from Majorca? Nothing else.

Majorca is one of the most breaktaking holiday destinations in Europe. There is the right balance between hotels in Palma De Mallorca and stunning natural beauty. Plan your next holiday in Palma De Mallorca.

Finding Perfect Hotels In Benidorm

Filed under: Vacations Spain - 02 May 2010 from Tris Jackson

A simple rule to think of when you’re looking for a hotel in Benidorm, is to ask yourself what sort of things you’re actually looking for from the place you’ll be staying in. Although this sounds incredibly obvious, it’s amazing how many times people forget this when looking for a hotel.

So how do we go about answering this question? What we need to do is develop a list of features that can be found in the hotels in Benidorm that you discover in your online search. Once we have this list, we’ll be much better able to select a hotel that best matches what we’re ideally looking for.

The basis for all hotel stays is obviously the reason why you’re going to be there in the first place. This will probably be either for a holiday or city break, or for work. There are, of course, other possibilities (such as visiting relatives, attending a party etc.), but we find these are the two most common reasons for wanting to stay in a hotel.

The next factor, then, is to decide whereabouts in Benidorm will be the ideal location for your accommodation. For example, do you want to be in the centre of town, near to nightlife, near to any sights you wish to see, near to where you’ll be working, or any other issues that spring to mind.

Now you know this, you’ll want to decide on the kind of facilities that the hotel should have. It’s pretty certain that every modern hotel will come with an en suite bathroom, though you can potentially save some cash if this isn’t necessary for you. And you should think whether you want the place to have a bar or somewhere you can eat.

Many hotels also now come with facilities that would have been unheard of a few years ago, including some with their own gym and swimming pool. If you want to keep on top of your emails or just chat with friends on Facebook, a wifi internet connection might also be important to you.

Having mentioned money, this is a very obvious issue that you’ll want to address. No point looking for five star luxury if you simply can’t afford to pay the amount it would cost per night. Benidorm certainly has its fair share of places to choose from in all price brackets, so you should easily find something suitable with just a few minute’s investigation.

Now you have all this info to hand - location, facilities etc. - you should look into each of the hotels that are available in Benidorm that match up with your requirements. You’ll probably find several that tick all the boxes, so you now simply need to choose your favourite.

Finally, of course, you’ll need to include the dates of your stay. Many hotels will not be available for all the days you want to be there, so you’ll want to check against each of them to ensure you can get the hotel you desire when it comes to booking online.

How To Find The Perfect Hotel In Palma

Filed under: Vacations Spain - 01 May 2010 from Tris Jackson

There’s a simple rule of thumb you need to bear in mind when looking for a Palma hotel - what is it you actually require from the place you’re going to be staying in? This sounds very obvious, but my experience is that people often forget this basic principle.

To get to the bottom of this, you need to go into the question at a basic level. So when you’re looking through the list of hotels in Palma that are available to you, you are in the best possible position to make an informed decision about the hotel that most matches what you’re looking for.

The first thing to look at, of course, is why it is you want to stay in a hotel at all. Generally, this will be because you’re going on holiday or for work purposes. There are other reasons, such as perhaps visiting people or attending a function, but the most likely scenario is you’ll be there for a break or for work.

Once we have in mind why it is we’re going, we then need to determine where in Palma will be the best place for us to be based. This will take into account factors such as whether you want to be near the town centre, near to any sightseeing opportunities, or near to where you’ll be working.

Once you have this in mind, you’ll want to decide what sort of facilities are important to you within the hotel itself. Certainly most modern hotels will come with en suite bathrooms, but if that isn’t important to you, you may be able to save some money. Similarly, you should decide if you want a bar or restaurant in the place you’ll be staying.

Several years ago, it would have been quite unusual for hotels to have facilities such as a gym or a swimming pool. But nowadays, you can find quite a few that offer these and more. And if you want to be using the internet while you’re away, you might want to check if your hotel has a wifi connection.

Having mentioned money, this is a very obvious issue that you’ll want to address. No point looking for 5 star luxury if you simply can’t afford to pay the amount it would cost per night. Palma certainly has its fair share of places to choose from in all price brackets, so you should easily find something suitable with just a few minute’s investigation.

So, knowing whereabouts you want to be, and the kind of things you want from your hotel, you’ll want to check out all the hotels in Palma that match your criteria. You can compare them all against the list of features you’ve decided upon, and zero in on the best match.

And finally, you’ll want to be sure the hotel you want to stay in is actually available on the dates you want to be there. Make sure you check for each of the nights you want to stay to ensure your chosen hotel is suitable for the whole time frame you want to book for.
