How Come Shipping By Courier Out Of Spain So Pricey And How May You Reduce Costs?

Filed under: Travel and Leisure - 11 Aug 2010 from guest

I have asked some significant global courier services that operate from Spain why the expense of shipping from Spain to other Countries in europe is very expensive when compared to cost of a courier shipment in the reverse direction. There appears to be a conspiracy of silence so let’s analyze the truth.

The published rate for shipping from Marbella, Spain a five kg parcel to Berlin, Germany during August 2010 is €211.56 by way of UPS www.ups.com employing their Express Saver courier parcel service from Spain.

The published price tag for shipping and delivery to Courier Spain the identical parcel back from Germany utilizing the same UPS courier service is €136.31. It is a time-specific air courier delivery service.

The gap with a road freighted Economy courier parcel is even greater €136.38 in comparison to €45.10, 3 x the amount to courier a parcel from Spain to Germany as the reverse routing.

Exactly the same happens for couriers between Spain and the United kingdom. Express Saver from Marbella to London is also €211.56 whereas Economy is €159.89, the return cost of the courier from England to Spain is ?88.47 and ?74.85 (€106.23 and €89.88 in line with today’s rate at www.currenciesdirect.com ), still almost twofold.

Germany is actually the world’s biggest exporting nation as per www.nationmaster.com exporting even more than China, Spain comes in at 17th, 2 spots behind Belgium. On this basis, you’d probably naturally presume that there are vans and aeroplanes full of courier parcels shipping from Germany towards Spain and also the UK which cannot all be returning full with courier packages from either England or Spain to Germany.

There’s two rational answers for this. One is that courier collection inside Germany is a lot more streamlined as compared to inside the United kingdom or Spain and and so the export costs are reduced. However, we are talking about a door-to-door service so a collection from 1 country necessitates a delivery in yet another and as a result the complexities might appear to cancel each other out.

The one conclusion which i may fairly draw is that the Courier Delivery Companies are charging the “market price” meaning that the Spanish market will bear a increased price tag than either the United kingdom or German market. However, the fact that there are 4 international companies competing head-to-head in a very cut-throat business with not one of them able to match their export expenditures from Spain to the cost of getting the very same parcel brought in from other European locations to Spain suggests there is something wrong. Either it may be called oligopoly pricing or there exists a structural problem in collection from Spain which is not reflected in deliveries to the same addresses.

Shipping Spain

Fortunately there exists a company called Citibox www.citibox.es (Courier Spain) which smashes through these obstacles and makes it possible for clients to post courier parcels back and forth from Spain not just within Europe but Throughout the world for the exact same cost whether or not the letter or parcel is going to Spain or is being sent from Spain. In addition they offer discount rates of close to 50% of the published costs of the main Courier Companies on letters, parcels and packages from Spain. Taking A Holiday In Spain

Filed under: Vacations Spain - 26 Jul 2010 from Mark Walters

Spain has long been a great destination vacation for people who want to envelop themselves in history and culture. More than 50 million people flock to Spain every year because of its wondrous climate, fabulous history and fantastic foods. And thanks to the tourism industry, many more places in Spain are becoming more accessible which means that you can be sure of always finding somewhere you like and never getting bored.

When you are visiting Spain you have to make sure that Barcelona is on your itinerary. Barcelona was originally a Roman city and you can still see a lot of the Roman influence in their architecture and rich heritage. You should visit the cathedral of Santa Eulalia as well as Gaudi’s Sagrada Familia, especially if you love history. There are also numerous beaches to explore, stores to shop at and places to eat in. Barcelona itself could be your complete vacation if you let it, and it is definitely a place you do not want to miss.

If you are a worshiper of the sun, then you need to make a trip to Alicante, which would be a perfect spot to visit after you stop in Barcelona since it is right down the coast from there. It is not hard to see why Alicante is a favorite among tourists since it has many beaches to sun bathe on and also has many more streets to roam. From Alicante, if you want adventure, you can visit a real pirate’s cove at Tabarca or you can hop a train to visit the Palmeral of Elche, a designated world heritage site and also home to one of the biggest palm tree groves on the entire planet.

For amazing sunsets and an all-around experience, Murcia is located a little further south by car. The Mar Menor area that surrounds the city hosts a remarkably charming lagoon that is perfect for viewing the sun setting in the west. The city boasts incredible architectural sites with a pictorial mountainous horizon - an experience that is truly difficult to pass up.

If you truly want dry and hot, than head for the port of Almeria. This great city has an average of 330 days without a drop of rain every year. Take a trip to the nearby desert of Tabernas and you will probably feel a sense of deja-vu, since so many of Hollywood’s great westerns were filmed here. The history fans in your party will enjoy a tour of the amazing Alcazaba, the Moorish castle that has been a part of this city for centuries. Or, if you prefer the great outdoors, head to the Cabo de Gata-Nijar Natural Park, home to some of the world’s most exciting geological features as well as some excellent diving.

Malaga is one of the most popular cities with tourists, thanks to its location near the Costa del Sol. There are several ways to reach this busy town, and plenty to keep you occupied. Take a stroll through the Picasso museum, jump from an airplane with your fellow skydivers, or soak up the sights and sounds of a real Spanish bull-fight. That Malaga is as popular with Spaniards as it is with foreign tourists is testament to the fact that it is an un-missable destination.

A Brief Overview Of Ibiza’s Restaurants

Filed under: Vacations Spain - 10 Jul 2010 from John Galt

It is more than likely that you are hitting Ibiza to soak up the party atmosphere, dance the night into morning, and spend some quality time topping up your bronzed tan. However, there is more to this island; no more so can this be found than in Ibiza’s restaurants.

Whilst it is always good to submerge yourself in a local culture, you may find the traditional Ibicenco dishes a little too piquant for your tastes. However, with more standard Spanish restaurants everywhere, and a host of cuisines from all over the world, there is surely to be something to tempt you.

If you are feeling braver still, perhaps you will even head for one of the German restaurants which are also popular; such is the popularity of Ibiza in Bavaria!

Whichever of Ibiza’s restaurants you decide to visit, you are sure of a great welcome and the food will most likely be of an excellent quality with local produce relied upon. For an excellent deal at lunch, look for the “menu del dia”; particularly in Spanish restaurants, which will give you three courses and wine for little more than ten Euros!

There will of course be restaurants attached to the hotel or resort you are staying in, and these can be good too. However, for the real experience, seek out those along the marinas and into the countryside.

Good weather and good times are a byline for Ibiza, and there is no reason why you shouldn’t enjoy the excellent food that Ibiza’s restaurants serve up on a daily basis. A word of warning though; as summer season peaks, some less than wonderful places do open. When deciding which place to dine out, spend a little time looking at the clientele. The rule of thumb here, (as with anywhere in the world), is if the locals like it; they must be something right.

Making A Choice Of Ibiza’s Beaches Could Be Difficult

Filed under: Vacations Spain - 24 Apr 2010 from Tom Binns

Imagine an island with balmy waters, fine weather and about 80 beaches to choose from, and chances are you are thinking about Ibiza’s Beaches. For fun in the sun you simply can not beat this popular island.

Popular with international tourists as well as locals, the beaches have a certain advantage above any other coastal resort you may have visited before - they are all within 30 minutes drive of each other, no matter where you are on the island.

Unlike other coastal beaches, you do not have to put up with annoying children or noisy teens, you simply get going and find another beach to suit your mindset of the day. Because the beaches are so close to each other and easy to reach, people migrate to where they want to be constantly.

For a more relaxed time spend in the sun, simply find a less populated beach where you can rent your deck chair and even have a very attractive beach attendant carry it for you. Summer temperatures soar up to very high levels, so do take some sun protection as well as water with you to avoid getting sun stroke.

Certain months of the year do have a windy day or two on Ibiza, but that will never stop you from enjoying your day in the sun. Should the wind be blowing on this side of the island, chances are great that the opposite side is having a wind less day, so simply hop on and go see for yourself as the other side of the island is so close you will be surprised.

Ibiza’s Beaches are overflowing with the sexiest people from Europe in summer months when the parties never stop and music can be heard twenty four hours a day. Should this idea give you the creeps, simply avoid this party Mecca by seeking quiet secluded beaches - remember, you have 80 to choose from on one island.
