Most holidaymakers find that renting Cyprus villas and apartments is the best holiday accommodation option in terms of value for money. Although the cost of renting a holiday villa or apartment will be a bit of a movable feast, nonetheless, renting a self-catering holiday home is a great option when likened to hotel choices on Aphrodite’s Island.

What sort of investment is needed to buy a holiday home in Cyprus?

Modern developments and older villas in their own private grounds on the hillsides tend to be more sought after and to bring in a better return on investment than the older villas clustered in petite groups. Some villas have a private pool, although that doesn’t necessarily bring in a higher rental income.

Rental cost of a nice villa will begin at around £550 (sterling) per week in the South, about 10% to 20% lower in the North. The cost of buying a property in the North will be around half the cost of a comparable property in the south.

So for the canny investor who is prepared to invest a little time as well as money, buying in the North is a very attractive idea.

But Isn’t Northern Cyprus Property Investment Dangerous?

Buying in Northern Cyprus got a lot of adverse publicity because of the on-going quarrel between the Greek and Turkish parts of the island. But in practice a competent lawyer can make your postion pretty secure.

In the South, the highest standard is to be found in Aphrodite’s Hills, where the quality of the finish reaches millionaire standard. A 2 bedroomed aprtment will cost upwards of £500,000 (sterling).

However, lovely holiday apartments can be found for less than £100,000 (sterling) in the North.

Do insist on seeing photos, as in Cyprus a higher price doesn’t always guarantee higher quality.

Buying Villas and Apartments in Northern Cyprus off plan

The locations and amenities of the Northern Cyprus contemporary building developments is absolutely stunning. Even in the new build holiday villages, though, the standard of furnishings varies a lot.

Prices in Northern Cyprus tend to be lower than anywhere on the Greek part of the island. In the cities and towns, however, prices can rise sharply in the most convenient neighborhoods.

Do not rely on pictures, as these are usually “artists impressions” and in Cyprus a higher price doesn’t always guarantee higher quality. your best bet is to check out the credentials of the builder locally.

Marvellous villas and apartments are available in North Cyprus and on the unspoilt West coast, a region of great natural beauty, perfect for walking and biking.

No matter what your budget, learning more about Cyprus holiday homes from a variety of standpoints can help you to choose the greatest holiday home to meet your needs at the lowest cost, and greatest overall value.

Hotels in Spain

Filed under: Accommodation Spain - 03 Apr 2008 from Your Spain Guide

The selection of hotels in Spain is really extraordinary, with options from ancient historical buildings built by conquering cultures through to completely modern chain-type hotels, or quaint types of bed and breakfast accommodations. For the most part, the budget you are traveling with will determine what type and level of hotel you choose while traveling through Spain on business or pleasure.

Hotels in Spain tend to be located throughout the city, often close to the cultural and entertainment centers. Often the hotels are within easy walking distance of most of the major attractions as well as transportation routes, which is different than the more remote hotels in cities in North America. In addition, the features offered by the hotels in Spain will vary based on the type of hotel, the age of the hotel, as well as the typical cost per night of the hotel. Just like hotels everywhere, the more exclusive and personalized the service and rooms are in the hotel, the higher the per night cost will be. (more…)

Sierra Nevada

Filed under: Regions of Spain - 02 Apr 2008 from Your Spain Guide

Spain is truly a country with almost any type of climate or environment possible. The Sierra Nevada mountain range, located in the area known as Andalusia, is another example of the variable nature of the country. The Sierra Nevada Mountains, which literally means “snowy mountain range” in Spanish, provides a breathtaking backdrop to the Mediterranean coastline. The Sierra Nevada Mountains are some of the highest in all of Europe with mountains over 3,000 ft common in the range. Lakes and valleys as well as waterfalls and streams are all part of the beauty of the Sierra Nevada Mountains.

The highest of the Sierra Nevada Mountains are covered with snow year round, even though they are located in the warm and tropical Iberian Peninsula. This makes skiing in these areas a popular tourist attraction, as skiers can ski in the morning and go to the beach and enjoy relaxing in the tropical sunshine in the afternoon. The city of Granada is considered to be the biggest tourist type city within the Sierra Nevada ski area, however the actual ski resorts also offer accommodations. (more…)
