There are several different ways to rent villas in Spain. One of the most common ways is to use a property management website that lists villas that are managed by a company based on region, features or location to attractions. Another way is to rent a villa privately directly from the owner through either recommendations from other travelers or through owner managed villa rental websites. Typically, the major property management companies will not host private owner villa rentals on their sites as they are trying to promote their own properties.

In Spain, a villa is a general term used for a detached type of home that is typically located on a landscaped yard and garden that is representative of a moderate to luxurious type of home. Many of the villas in Spain that are available as rentals will include amenities such as swimming pools, outdoor patios and beautifully landscaped gardens, wireless internet, satellite television, heating and air conditioning in all rooms, gourmet kitchen facilities and exquisite interior decoration and design.

Villas come in many different sizes as well as price ranges. Usually the larger and more exclusive the villa is, the more costly per week or day it will be to rent. Most villas are rented for a week at a time but property managers and owners will work with guests wanting to stay for extended time periods. The holidays in Spain including the summer months, especially along the coast, tend to have the highest rental rates for villas. During the winter months and the lower tourist times the cost of even the most exclusive villas tends to decrease.

There are villas that are marketed to specific types of tourists or visitors. For example smaller villas along the beach may be specifically marketed for romantic get-aways and honeymoon retreats while more practical villas with several bedrooms may be more practical for family rentals. Villas may also be located close to major shopping areas and historical centers as opposed to natural attractions such as beaches, parks or gardens.

In Spain renting a villa is often a very practical and even cost saving idea as opposed to staying in a hotel. Some properties do come with staff and housecleaning services so be sure to ask about any special features you may require with your villa rental.
