For those visitors planning to spend more than a day or two in one area of Spain, a vacation rental may be a low cost form of accommodation. A villa or small or large house, condo or apartment may be just what you are looking for if you want to have more privacy and freedom than is offered in a typical hotel or bed and breakfast. A vacation rental is typically a home or condo that is very well maintained, located in a popular area, often along a major transportation route, and allows the guest to have a home away from home for the duration of their holiday.
Since the vacation rental home or villa offers the possibility of cooking your own meals, doing laundry and even just enjoying time in the courtyard or garden of the home it is often much less expensive than staying in a hotel or other type of accommodation. With so many different areas of Spain, deciding what you want to do on your vacation will impact on where you choose to stay. For the most part the greatest number of vacation rentals in Spain tend to be in the coastal areas where beach houses or vacation rentals within easy access to the beach are popular year round. In other areas such as the towns throughout the Sierra Nevada Mountains, especially around Granada, vacation rentals may be more popular in the winter months as skiers can enjoy the wonderful skiing and the temperate climate of the coastal areas.
Vacation rentals can even be provided to meet your activity needs during your vacation. If, for example, you want to golf, there are vacation rental properties that are close to golf courses. Many of the areas offer vacation rentals that are close to historical attractions such as cathedrals, palaces, Jewish or Arab historical centers or even art galleries and museums. Finding the exact location of the attractions and then comparing this to the location of the rental will help pinpoint the area you should stay.
As with any type of vacation rental always work with a reputable site, realtor or property manager to ensure you will find the accommodation exactly as described. Be prepared to put down a non-refundable deposit to hold the vacation property as well as provide a refundable damage deposit in advance. All booking should be done with a legal contract to protect both yourself as the renter as well as the property owner or manager.
